So much for just bringing only one sweater when it has been like 12 degrees celsius some nights. Gah!
2) The scenery is worth the high price real estate: beach, hills, hot boys with sweet tattoos.
3) Even silk-stocking lawyers say, "dude" in court.
4) In-n-Out Burger really is what everyone says it is: AWESOME!
5) Jack in the Box is a short second.
6) I really heart authentic Mexican food. Note to Canadians: Taco Bell is not authentic Mexican cuisine. Oh and second note: Taco Bell does not serve Fries Supreme. I asked for it at the counter and the attendant looked at me weird.
7) Even 40-year-old men wear Billabong, Hurley, Volcom and O'Neill.
8) "Gnarly" is not a word that died in the nineties, it is still used here.
9) Practically one-in-three kids skateboard.
10) I really love California.

Sunday, March 08, 2009

DESPITE THE CHANGE, XANGA AND PROCRASTINATION STILL REMAIN...
So it's 10:30 a.m. (daylight savings time just kicked in) on a Sunday and I'm in the library studying tax. What happened to my life? I remember just a couple of years back around this day and time I would still be in bed and hungover, or I would be at my old retail job folding over-priced tee shirts. Whichever scenario, I would probably still be hungover.

Nostalgia aside, I have to say, I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm moving to California in April to start an externship with the Ventura County Public Defender's Office, then off to graduate in September, take the California Bar in February 2010 and finally getting married in September 2010. There is so much to look forward to, so much to plan for, so little time. I'm happy that my life has direction.

Saturday, November 15, 2008

 http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"> name="ProgId" content="Word.Document"> name="Generator" content="Microsoft Word 9"> name="Originator" content="Microsoft Word 9">

TOOLS

And the world continues to happen whether we like it or not. I must have been really mad! Ah well, now that everything is back to normal after going home for a couple of days and things are fine between myself and said person quoted below, I just want to bitch about things that are totally irrelevant, like the new series LIPSTICK JUNGLE, based on a novel by Candace Bushnell--writer of Sex and the City.

I think I speak for alot of the girls expecting Sex and the City type magic when I say, wtf?! First, I'd like to introduce the show's characters:

Wendy--played by Brooke Shields. She is a movie-executive that juggles motherhood, marriage and booking movie stars, all at the same time. Her one flaw as inferred from the debut is that her marriage to her British K-Fed-greasy looking husband maybe failing. She does exactly the opposite of what Carrie did to Sex in the City, exude charm and wit. Frankly, she is BORING! Whatever happened to the funny yet loveable, neurotic Brooke Shields in Suddenly Susan?

Victory--played by Lindsay Price. The ditsy high-end fashion designer that is experiencing a bad year when a review is printed describing her collection as,"Out with the old, in with the Eew!" Amidst, her career drama she manages to find a love interest in an eccentric billionaire, played by Andrew McCarthy of Pretty in Pink fame. I remember how creepy he was in that movie, and he still exudes some sort of American Psycho/Christian Bale vibe in this show.

and finally there's Nico--played by Kim Raver. She works at one of the hottest fashion magazines in New York, married to an inattentive, emotionally distant history professor, and the show's resident cougar adulteress. Her character is overworked-overly competitive and sexually repressed, so it is only fair that she is as the saying goes, "those who work hard, play hard...with 25-year-olds that have rock hard abs." (last part I added)

Unfortunately, Lipstick Jungle does not really set a good example, or provide a silver lining to those like me who want to balance career, love and friendship despite a hectic schedule. In fact, it just confirms my worst fears. I don't really get the concept of the show: is it meant to empower women, relate to women, or place us in the same position as men. Whatever the concept is, the show is a disappointment.

Tuesday, February 05, 2008

What gets more shit on than a toilet??

Me. Not literally, so you sick fetish bastards thinking 2-girls-1 cup can stop reading now.

Yesterday, while at a party, I had a rude awakening concerning a supposedly good friend of mine. You know them:

the low-self esteem type that feed on the trustworthy;

the type of people that don't appreciate the loyalty given to them from their friends, whether it be emotionally, financially or physically, because they effin think that they deserve it;

the ungrateful drama queens that have the power to make a whole group of individuals feel uncomfortable from a single action of loud chastisement of another individual, chastisement that should be reserved to closed quarters or between the audio receivers of two phones--NOT at a social event.

basically, disrespectful mother-effers who, prior to the event, you would have gave the shirt off your back for.

If you are one of these people in the bullets, you can join the sick fetish bastards by clicking on sign out, because at this point you should know where I'm going with this.

I can't believe that I, Elizabeth Quinto, had to reevaluate myself just because of one incident. To reach from another confirmation, that I'm a good friend. Despite, my mainly positive outlook on life and "bleeding heart"-give-people the benefit of the doubt- attitude, I was pulled down by your selfishness, a selfishness that other people warned me about.

How dare you be mad at me for something so trivial, so unreasonable, SO effin MINOR. I will not apologize. Forgiveness is a quality so scarce, more scarce than diamonds. How dare you disrespect me and sh*t on my positive disposition and faith in others. Fortunately, the most time you will have on me is the time I write this blog.

Bloodsuckers, what a sad lot you are. Taking the joy, innocence, trust and friendship slowly out of others, until what is left is your image. I thank God everyday for my blessings and my faith, because instead of laying your ass flat on the concrete, I'm lighting a candle for you.

Monday, January 28, 2008

Here's an idea: Express Lane

Yesterday I went to confession. There was about five people ahead of me: one gentleman, two teenage girls, one lady and her son, who looked about eight years old. I sat quietly and reflected on some Celtic inspired hymnals playing over a loud speaker, while thinking up of a laundry list of sins.

Twenty minutes later, I was still sitting in the same spot behind the same five people. Mass was going to begin at 4pm and it was already 3:30pm. I thought to myself, "Oh man, I don't think the priest will have enough time to hear my confession, and I drove all the way from downtown just for this."

I know, I know, patience is a virtue--but seriously! If each confession was going to be this long, then there should be another priest OR even better, an express lane.

Check it: 12 sins or less, line up here.
